Start with a foundational cert
Every major cloud has an entry-level, mostly non-technical certification designed for beginners, career-switchers and non-engineers. They validate cloud concepts, core services, pricing and security — enough to open doors and build toward associate-level certs.
The three foundational certs compared
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C02) — the market leader; the most widely recognised entry cert. Practise the AWS Cloud Practitioner mock.

Which should you take first?
- Pick by job market: check local listings — most will name AWS or Azure. Follow the demand.
- AWS if unsure: the broadest recognition and the largest job pool.
- Then go associate: once you hold a foundational cert, Solutions Architect Associate (AWS) or equivalent is the real salary lever.
