DELE B2 structure: four papers, two groups
DELE B2 has four papers grouped into two scoring blocks. You must pass both groups — a strong reading score can’t rescue a weak listening one.
- Grupo 1: Comprensión de lectura (70 min) + Expresión e interacción escritas (80 min) — minimum 30/50.
- Grupo 2: Comprensión auditiva (40 min) + Expresión e interacción orales (20 min) — minimum 30/50.
- Overall pass: 60/100. Each skill is scored out of 25.
The task types that trip students up
B2 is not just “harder vocabulary” — it introduces specific task formats that you have to recognise instantly on exam day:
- Rellenar huecos (gap-fill): a text with blanks where you choose the correct connector or word (aunque, sin embargo, por tanto, sino…). This is where most marks are won or lost on connectors.
- Relacionar / ¿Qué persona…? (matching): several short texts labelled A–D and statements you match to the right person or text.
- Comprensión auditiva: one audio followed by its own questions — played twice — not a wall of audios and questions mixed together.
- Expresión escrita: a formal letter plus an argumentative essay (200–300 and 600–700 characters).
Practise the real exam, task by task

How to prepare in 8 weeks
- Weeks 1–2: Diagnose. Sit one full mock and note which of the four skills is weakest.
- Weeks 3–5: Drill the huecos task for connectors, and do a matching task every other day. Immerse in real Spanish — podcasts, news, series.
- Weeks 6–7: Timed writing (letter + essay) and speaking practice out loud.
- Week 8: Two full-length mocks under exam timing to lock in pacing.
