How TOPIK II levels work
Unlike many exams, you don’t choose your level — you sit one TOPIK II paper and your total score decides whether you land at level 3, 4, 5 or 6. Higher total, higher level. That means every mark counts, and there is no “easy” version to hide in.
The three sections
- 듣기 (Listening): 50 questions, 60 minutes.
- 쓰기 (Writing): 4 tasks in 50 minutes — two short sentence-completion items and two essays (200–300 and 600–700 characters).
- 읽기 (Reading): 50 questions, 70 minutes.
- Total: scored out of 300 across the paper.
What to actually study
TOPIK II rewards range — advanced vocabulary (including 한자어 Sino-Korean words), connective and formal grammar patterns (‑는 바람에, ‑더라도, ‑(으)ㄹ 뿐만 아니라), and the ability to read for main idea and inference under time pressure. Drilling by skill is far more efficient than random practice.

A simple weekly routine
- One skill drill a day — rotate vocabulary, grammar, reading, listening.
- One full mock a week to build stamina for the 180-minute paper.
- Keep an error log of the grammar patterns you keep missing.
