The Occupational English Test (OET), from Cambridge Boxhill Language Assessment, is an English test for healthcare professionals across 12 professions. It has four sub-tests — Listening and Reading (common to all professions) plus profession-specific Writing (a letter from case notes) and Speaking (role-plays). Each sub-test is scored 0–500 and mapped to a grade from A to E (A is 450–500, B is 350–440), reported per sub-test. Many healthcare regulators require at least a B in each sub-test, and results are valid for two years.
