How the Band Scale Works
12 min
Your overall band is an average of four skills. Understanding this shapes where to invest effort.
The 0 to 9 scale
Each skill is scored 0 to 9, and the overall band is the average of the four, rounded to the nearest half band.
- Averages ending in .25 round up to the next half band
- Averages ending in .75 round up to the next whole band
Because of rounding, lifting your weakest skill by half a band can raise your overall score.
Strategic implications
Improving your lowest skill usually raises the average more than polishing your strongest one. Target weaknesses first.
Key Takeaways
