System design
System design is Netflix's most heavily weighted technical pillar (one round for L4, two for L5+). It is conversational and unstructured — it feels like a real engineering design review, often with no diagramming tool — and domain-specific: streaming/CDN, recommendations, high availability, and security/resilience. Netflix prizes real hands-on experience ("reverse system design": describe the largest system you personally built and operated, and the trade-offs you made) over textbook templates.
Behavioural round
Netflix's culture round is a heavily-weighted, first-class evaluation.
